Villaconcorde, Apart N°1, September 2011.

I just wanted to write to you and tell you how much we enjoyed our one week stay at VillaConcorde.

We could tell that you took great pride in the apartment. Everything there was so thoughtful to the needs of your guests.

We particularly enjoyed the "camp" chairs and cooler.Every day we would grab them, fill the cooler full of all that great French Cheese, wine a baguette. and head down to the river to relax.

Also the bike tours you mapped out for us were wonderful!

The market on Sunday was unbelievable! We had never seen such a market before and came home with our arms full of good treats.

We had such a great stay in Amboise. We are looking forward to returning!

Dear Karine and Thierry,

Our apologies for this late thank you. But, we have to say, our accommodation and tours with your company were first class and we had the most amazing time!!!

Lucile was marvellous- very welcoming & she explained everything to us thoroughly. Yet, even as she was getting away, to find out that my sister had missed her connecting flight in the US due to storms and then arranging taxi transfers for Janet late at night to join us was very much appreciated.

We loved our accommodation, all very clean with all we needed and so perfectly close to all the charms of the Loire River & Amboise.

Stephanie, our guide for the next 2 days tours of the chateaux, was absolutely charming & represented your company beautifully. Please don't hesitate to give her a full time job. She was prompt, informative but respectful and an absolute delight to spend time with, as she showed us around. And what an amazing part of the world you live in- the chateaux were divine. Don's favorite was first, Chenonceau & the lunch was "out-of-this-world" (we could have stayed there forever!)

Chaumont was superb, too, much better than pictures we'd seen (I like to research where we're going so I don't miss anything, as we live so far away).We loved the gardens and other buildings there, too. Villandry was my favorite. Our son-in-law is a landscape gardener -I've explained I'd like our back garden remodelled!! The history, chateau & gardens were fabulous.

Lunch at Azay le Rideau was lovely, too, then Stephanie drove us around the best way to approach Usse - another fantastic visit with Stephanie, as ever, brilliantly explaining in more detail what we were seeing.

Thank you for the detailed information about Amboise-we loved it all, especially the view from our living room!

It was lovely to meet you at the end of our stay, Thierry. Thank you for taking us to the station so early in the morning & thank you again for a wonderful time, looking after the 3 of us so well.

We will not hesitate to recommend your company to anyone travelling to the beautiful Loire Valley.

Hi Karine and Thierry,

We loved staying in the top floor apartment in July 2011.

The very clean and tidy apartment was very well equipped with a full kitchen and was incredibly well situated on a quiet street just a few minutes' walk into the main town areas.

The clothes laundry machine was very much appreciated. I would not hesitate to refer it to anyone looking to stay in Amboise.

It was fun looking up through our windows at the castle across the street. You could pretend you were living two hundred years ago!

Thierry made checking in easy, by meeting us on time, helping us drag our luggage up the few flights of stairs and giving us advice on parking and sightseeing.

Amboise itself is a lovely little city, very central for touring chateaux and also a wonderful town for walking and shopping. We especially loved the cheese and vegetable/fruit shops (we asked for advice to find a cheese which went very well with your gift of sparkling local wine!).

All in all, with the comfortable apartment and charming area, it was a wonderful few days' stay.

We hope to see you again sometime.

Our visit to the Loire Valley was very pleasant, and a great part of it was because of the great apartment at Villa Concorde.

The location is outstanding, with an amazing view of Amboise Castle and very close to many other castles.

We made day trips to visit most of the castles at the Loire Valley. Not one of them was disappointing!!

The apartment is very clean, and very well equipped.

In the same trip we stayed at apartments in Rome, Paris and Mt. St. Michel, and I can honestly tell you that Villa Concorde was by far the best.

Very good value for your money.

Hello Karine,

I was meaning to write to you before now, however things have been quite busy with work - I am envious of the more sensible, relaxed approach that the French people take to the summer months!

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Concorde, which has a great historical feel, was well laid out and nicely furnished.

We also had a lovely day touring the vineyards and cellars of Vouvray - Lucile was a very knowledgeable local guide with excellent English, and great fun too. We are especially grateful for allowing us into your lovely home, and meeting your family - a wonderful and memorable glimpse into life in the Loire!

We have also been showing off our personalised "cuvées" to our friends - the difficult thing now will be to keep the wines long enough to mature!

Many thanks for your help in organising our trip to the Loire, we will certainly recommend both your accommodation and tour company to friends.

We just thought we would like to say thankyou for the great time we had in Amboise during our recent holiday.

Elaine, Julia and I had a very enjoyable time staying at Villaconcorde. You have a beautiful house opposite the Chateau, and the village of Amboise is so nice.

Thankyou for organising the canal boat on the Cher, and please say thankyou to Audrey, Capitan Michel and First Mate Jean-Robert. They all made the day very enjoyable, and Audrey’s knowledge was fantastic.

Also thankyou to Thierry for driving us and showing us the wine cooperative and telling us so much about the vines and wines in the region. Thank you both for showing us the wine bottling and the personal touch with the labelling, as well as showing us your beautiful family home and cellar. The whole group really had a good time. It was also nice to meet your young daughters.

Karine, thankyou for showing us the rooms and helping organise the planning of the stay.

We had a great holiday in the small part of the Loire we saw, and perhaps we can meet sometime again.

Dear Karine and Thierry

We spent a delightful week at the Villa Concorde in Amboise.

The location was perfect--just at the foot of the Château d'Amboise and a short walk from the center of town, but on a small, quiet street. We loved walking to the château, market, and cafés and restaurants, and exploring the town and the beautiful river.

The apartment was very comfortable, cool (even on very hot days), and nicely furnished. The microwave was inscrutable and I'll never understand French washing machines, but Karine and Thierry left a notebook of instructions for all the appliances so we were able to figure things out. Having the kitchen allowed us to make coffee at home and we even prepared the occasional meal.

We enjoyed the bottle of local sparking wine that Karine and Thierry provided, and having breakfast supplies for the first day was great. Amboise proved to be a great central location for visiting many châteaux and other sites in the area. We were able to make easy day trips from Amboise to about a dozen châteaux, which was great.

But we always looked forward to coming home to our apartment and our "neighborhood château" and the assortment of restaurants in town.

We ate at many of the restaurants Thierry and Karine recommended and enjoyed them. They also provided various brochures and information about the things to see and do in the area, and these were also very helpful.

Hi Karine,

I wanted to express to you how much we enjoyed our stay at Villa Concorde and that the apartment was just wonderful.

The apartment was very clean, convenient to all of the sites and very beautiful. It was so nice to awake in the morning and see the chateau walls!

We even had our favorite personal gargoyle to see every day!

You thought of all of our needs and it was especially appreciated that you took the time to stock the pantry and refrigerator as well as giving us the sparkling wine! It was very tasty!

We had a great time in Amboise and were able to see many chateaux during our visit.

Of course, we could have used another 4 days in order to see all of the places that we lacked the time to visit! That will have to await our next visit.

Dear Karine and Thierry

Sorry for the delay in sending through our feedback from our stay. Life's been a little crazy since arriving home...

Firstly, a huge thank-you to Karine for picking us up and dropping us off (sorry about the early Sunday morning departure!) at the train station - it was much appreciated.

Our apartment (Apartment 1) was just superb. With France quite warm during our stay in May, it was a relief to return to our 'home away from home' during the warmer part of the day to relax in the exquisite coolness - it was like having an airconditioner going.

The cleanliness of the apartment was outstanding, all appliances were in 'as new' condition and easy to use (thanks for the tour on arrival) and having the bathroom and toilet separate was a masterstroke in design. Free wifi was a huge bonus and fantastic for staying in touch with everyone back home.

Being only a 2 minute walk to the market square was very handy with the many restaurants on or near the square offering lovely food at reasonable prices. The local 'Carrefour' supermarket was great for stocking up on everyday supplies and being only 5 minutes walk from the apartment was very convenient.

We had an awesome time in Amboise and would highly recommend Villa Concorde and hope one day to return ourselves. The only thing I would recommend is that Villa Concorde be put on TripAdvisor so that many more prospective guests get the opportunity to stay at this georgeous property.

Well it has been just over a month since my mother (Pauline) and I returned to New Zealand from our trip to France.

Our stay in your villa in Amboise was one of the highlights of our trip. We particularly enjoyed the wine tour we did with you Thierry, and the visit to your home to meet Karine and your children.

You asked me all that time ago to send you a photo from when I poured wine from the cooperative vats. At last I have got around to sending the photo – attached for you.

I hope things are well for you over in the Loire. We are well here in New Zealand and today I am enjoying a crisp but sunny winter morning. I hope one day to return to the area where you live and maybe live and work for three months or so.

I loved the villages and the countryside and the friendly people and would enjoy the challenge of immersing myself in and speaking the French language.

Our Family of 5 (11,9, and 7 years old)would highly recommend this apartment in Amboise. The owners Thiery and Katrine were very welcoming and helpful for our first trip to France.

The apartment was well equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked to be able to eat in when we wanted to. Its location right next to the Amboise castle was magical. We could easily walk into the wonderful town of Amboise.

We loved strolling around and taking in its Medieval History. The town was also an ideal base to explore the surrounding Loire Valley and all its beauty.

This apartment, town and the hospitality of Theiry really made a wonderful beginning to our trip to France.

Hi Thierry,

We are now back in Virginia, after a delightful stay at Villa Concorde. We sincerely appreciate your accommodating our very late arrival.

Our family of four (parents, 15-year-old, and 12-year-old) rented Apartment 2 for six nights and would have rented for double or triple that if time had allowed.

Our accommodations were delightful, comfortable, and classic. The location is perfect. We felt very much “at home” in our apartment and enjoyed the convenience of walking to the markets, the city center, restaurants and shopping.

Villa Concorde is also an easy drive to nearby chalets, castles and vineyards. We did a variety of day trips and still arrived home at Villa Concorde in time for dinner out in Amboise.

Apartment 2 is perfect for a family: the kitchen is well stocked with basics and utensils for cooking meals at home; the two baths are spa-like; and the bedrooms and living room are nicely furnished.

The entire apartment was very clean upon our arrival. In fact, we fell in love with the apartment and appreciate the care Thierry and Karin took to remodel and refurbish it. For example, the paneling in our apartment is from the 17th Century and original to the home. Thierry and Karin are to be commended for Villa Concorde. We found them very accommodating; Thierry even waited for us to arrive on our first night – which was very late.

We already miss the view of the Amboise castle each day from our windows. Villa Concorde provided our family with wonderful memories of our vacation in France.

We highly recommend Villa Concorde. Thank you again for giving us memories we shall always cherish. I do hope we can return some day.

Three months later, we still cannot stop reminiscing about our incredible visit with the River Loire! Everything we saw and experienced delighted us, but it was really our stay at Villa Concorde that made the trip so wonderful in the end. Apartment III was beautiful, and more than comfortably accommodated our family of five adults. We loved being able to walk to all of Amboise's delicious restaurants and patisseries, and the open space, natural lighting, and comfortable bedrooms made for a calm and relaxing place to come home to each day. The living and dining areas were well-appointed and we used them well! The comfort of our own kitchen allowed us to take advantage of the wonderful local market in Amboise -- there was nothing lacking! Thank you for the incredible hospitality!

Our visit to Amboise was a highlight of our trip, mainly because of the very warm and attentive hospitality you extended to us during our stay and because of the delightful apartment you have set up there. Your fantastic service before our arrival and during our stay made our visit so much easier and we just loved the apartment.

We felt so privileged to share your 17th Century treasure and it was an absolute delight to look out over the Royal Castle of Amboise from the living room. The apartment had everything we needed, including internet access, and it was in such a fantastic location that it was a real pleasure to stay there for our few days in Amboise.

Thanks, too, for providing us with some basic provisions for cooking and for our initial breakfast and for the extra care you took to make our whole stay so comfortable and enjoyable.

We look back on our time there very fondly.

The apartments are much more than getaways for those of us looking for a vacation, they are a true home away from home. They are comfortable, spacious, quiet, and the views are simply amazing. Our friends and family couldn't believe the pictures we showed to them.

In addition to the apartments, what made our stay even more enjoyable was your wonderful hospitality. When we arrived you had stocked the refrigerator with breakfast items, tea and coffee, and you spent the time with us to make sure we were oriented in Amboise and in the larger Loire Valley. Those personal touches were fantastic. Our family (including the kids!) will always have wonderful memories of our time in Amboise.

It's a delightful apartment in a perfect location of Amboise, which is a charming town.

Thank you both for being such good hosts. We had a wonderful time in Amboise and the Loire valley.

The apartment is ideally located in Amboise right next to the castle. I loved being able to gaze out the window, particularly at night, to look up at the huge, lighted ramparts right across the street with colorful medieval flags waving in the breeze. It felt like we were staying in a fairy tale setting.

The apartment itself was just the right size for our family of two adults and three children. The bedrooms were very spacious with nice high ceilings. The bathrooms were completely up-to-date, roomy and well decorated, quite a welcome change from cramped hotel-size bathrooms. The kitchen was also great, although with all the magnificent cuisine in your region of France, we did not use it much. My nineteen year-old son and I particularly enjoyed our bike ride through the nearby villages, although given the amount of traffic in the area, I would only recommend it for experienced riders.

Thanks so much for all of your help. I would highly recommend your apartment to any family looking for a comfortable, central location in the Loire valley.

My family stayed in Apartment 1 at Villa Concorde in Amboise in April 2009.

We had a fantastic stay, and can highly recommend Villa Concorde, and our host, Karine. Amboise is a beautiful town, and is the perfect base for exploring the Loire Valley.

The location of the apartment is amazing, as it looks directly onto the castle wall. We were travelling with a 10-month-old baby, so had very specific requirements, and Villa Concorde was perfect for us. We were on the ground floor, with easy access from the street, and the apartment was quite spacious and child-friendly.

The decor is lovely and the kitchen had everything we needed. Karine was very helpful with information about the local area, and also provided us with a cot, high chair and change mat, which were much appreciated.

We would be very happy to return to Amboise and stay at Villa Concorde.

My husband Vladimir and I, and our 16 year old niece thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your lovely apartment in Amboise.

First of all, Amboise is, as you had said, perfectly situated for easy day trips to the chateaux in the region – we managed all the major ones and several less known ones (at least to us) that we enjoyed at least as much as the famous ones.

Your apartment is so well appointed, with so many nice aspects to it, that it really made it nice to come home after a day spent viewing castles. It is spacious and airy, perfect for our little family unit – plenty of privacy too. The sitting room in particular made for a very nice place to have breakfast and relax. The snazzy bathroom and shower is terrific. We appreciated getting tips from you, particularly for some of the nice restaurants in the countryside. The apartment is perfectly located – hard to get closer to Amboise castle than across the street! – and easy parking too. We found it easy to get to by train from Paris.

We will enthusiastically recommend the apartment to anyone planning a trip to the beautiful Loire region. Thanks much for your friendly and caring hospitality!

Hi Thierry:
We are still savouring our time in the Loire; it was truly magical. We are talking to our friends about the area, Amboise and you and Karine as hosts.

Several thoughts on your great apartment.

1. Ideal location for a first trip to the Loire.
2. TGV worked fine for us from CDG. Can purchase tickets easily on the internet through Rail Europe.
3. We found the Alamo car rental the best buy on the internet with pickup and return at Saint Pierre de Corps with the TGV stop right there.
4. The combination washer and drier is a real plus. This means that you can just put in your clothes and go off for the day. In addition, it means that you can bring less clothes the lighten the 33 kg luggage limit on AF.

Thank you very much for communicating in English with us; this was particularly helpful in making the reservations with you for the apartment . Nous aimons tres bien la France!!!

We did indeed have the most wonderful holiday and our time in France was my favourite.It was all rather like living in a calendar - spectacular scenery and places to visit.
We did so enjoy our time in your apartment and it was everything we hoped for and more. It is actually bigger than appears in the photos on your site which was very welcome. It is a great location and you have thought of everything.Champagne was lovely - thank you. The L'Occitane products were a nice touch and so was having a real hairdryer. It is so hard to pack these things now with all the resrictions it was lovely to have them to use.

So good luck with it all - I am sure you will have no trouble being fully booked. I will recommend you to all I know.

While in France my husband and I stayed at many places. You begin to get tired of the same type of room and start to long for the comforts of home. Thierry and Karine provided us that home like space. We were able to stay within yards from the Castle Amboise and the Loire River. We were within a block from the center of town.

The apartment itself was well furnished and well designed. We had our own kitchen with all the needed gear, an ultra comfy couch set, and great picture window through the whole apartment. The bed was super soft and I loved the decorating and bed spread so much I had to have one just like it. The bathrooms as well as the entire apartment were spick and span clean.

Another great feature as if this wasn’t enough, a washer and dryer. By this point in your travels it’s nice to not have to hustle about trying to find a Laundromat. We had a great stay and plan on many return visits.

We had a great time staying with you in Amboise.
You have done a great job setting up the apartment, it was beautiful.

The extra touches such as the breakfast foods, chocolate!!, and bottle of champagne were much appreciated.
The kitchen is very well equipped, there was even coffee and a French Press coffee maker, nice!!

The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful with the new high quality fixtures.
A combination washer / dryer was very useful as well.

Parking was convenient, nearby, and free.
